Kriti Sanon is having a busy and exciting 2019. Her first release of the year was Luka Chuppi which was well received at the box office. Her next release is Arjun Patiala with Diljit Dosanjh, followed by the multi-starrer comedy caper Housefull 4. She will end on a historical note with Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Panipat.
While all these films have an ensemble cast, the next film that she has taken on will be resting on her shoulders. Director Rahul Dholakia has roped Kriti for a thriller inspired from real-life incidents which is being produced by Sunir Kheterpal for Azure Entertainment, whose last co-production Badla was a box office hit.
Talking about the film Kriti says, “I have been waiting for the right female-driven thriller to come my way and this film ticked all the boxes and has all the elements of a commercial film. It’s an entertainer that has a powerful core idea and will connect with the audiences without being preachy about the subject. I play a media professional for which the research has already started and I am looking forward to beginning this journey in August,”
Rahul Dholakia whose last directorial outing was the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees is co-producing the film. The project marks the first collaboration between Azure and Rahul. He is very excited about the project. “Azure pitched this idea to me which was being developed and all of us realized that there was an exciting, real-time thriller format that this story lends itself to. This is a cracker of a script and Kriti is the ideal choice for the protagonist,” shares Rahul.
“The film is in pre-production with Rahul, Kriti and the team doing a week long workshop in end July before embarking on a start to finish schedule in August. The core idea behind this taut thriller has excited all of us,” added Sunir.
It’s a VFX heavy film for which a South Korean VFX Studio is being brought on board. The film is being written by author Bilal Siddiqi, whose novel, The Bard of Blood is being adapted into a series for Netflix. The film will be ready for release in early 2020.
