On the Spring/Summer ’19 runways, suits took center stage in a big way. We are not talking about the run-of-the-mill suits that have dominated the market for most of the decade. We are talking about suits with bare chests (see: Ermenegildo Zegna, Hermes and Dior), kimono-style tailoring (see: Etro, Maison Margiela and Cerruti) and exaggerated silhouettes that referenced the ‘80s (see: Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith and Dunhill). Advanced-style dressers have already taken the trends out for a spin – with Donald Glover emerging as a champion of the no-shirt inside movement, Shahid Kapoor debuting the wrap-around style during Kabir Singh promotions and now, Ranveer Singh making a case for the oversized kind. Check out his look here:
Ranveer Singh at India vs Pakistan World Cup 2019
Singh who is shooting for the movie ’83 – and promoting it at the same time by the looks of it – even took to commentating at India vs Pakistan match on Sunday (June 16) by joining Sunil Gavaskar, Vijender Sehwag and other cricket legends at commentators’ box. But Singh’s fit, which was not meant to be contained in a box got its moment when the actor stepped on to the ground thanks to London’s infamous rains delaying the match. The look went like this: A checkered three-piece suit minus the jacket (a la Gareth Southgate), an overcoat and a scarf – all from Gucci. Only this was not the three-piece kinds you would see in the boardroom, but rather the big, baggy, super-fluid kind that allowed Ranveer Singh to double-down on his existing swag quotient. To complete the look, Singh chose lace-ups by Christian Louboutin (a fact made obvious by the red sole showed that he put on full display in one of the pictures that went viral) and oversized tinted sunglasses.
